Highlanders can now access JMP Student Edition, a powerful statistical software used in data analysis, explaining complex data relationships, and high-level research.
JMP Student Edition boasts all the same functionalities and capabilities found in JMP Pro. The software is free for all current UC Riverside students, faculty, academic researchers, and staff.
How to Access JMP Student Edition
Highlanders may access JMP Student Edition in three ways:
For Students: Personal Devices
Students can get JMP Student Edition for free by registering with their UCR NetID email.
- How to Sign Up: Go to the JMP Student Edition sign-up page and click Get JMP for free. You'll need to verify your UCR email address.
- How to Download: Once registered, you can download the installer for Windows or Mac directly from the My JMP portal.

For Faculty and Students: Virtual Computer Lab
Faculty members, along with students who opt out of installing JMP Student Edition into their local computers, may access the software through Itopia, UCR’s virtual computer lab (VLab).
- How to Get Started: Visit labs.itopia.com and select Sign in with Google. Follow the login and verification instructions. In the itopia Privacy Policy page, click Continue to enter the CloudApps Classroom portal.
- How to Access: Once logged in, launch the "UCR Virtual Lab" tile. JMP Student Edition is pre-installed and ready to use.

For Staff, Faculty, and Students: Software Catalog
JMP Student Edition is available in the Software Catalog, complete with system requirements and download and installation instructions.
Important Requirements for Installation:
- Administrator Privileges: To install JMP Student Edition, you must have local administrator rights on your computer.
- Academic Verification: To activate and download your free license, you must create a My JMP account using your UCR email address and complete the account verification process.
