UC Riverside broke another record for Giving Tuesday, raising $388,273 during the Nov. 30, 2021 event.
The fundraising record continues an upward trajectory in dollars raised since the campus began participating in the International Day of Giving. The 2020 total was $315,330 while $254,706 was raised in 2019.
During the 24-hour fundraiser, 1,921 donors contributed 2,495 gifts to a wide variety of causes and programs on campus, according to the Office of Annual Giving.
Donors, from as far away as Sri Lanka, supported 140 different funds for programs, scholarships, and initiatives benefiting students and employees. The average donation was $156.
Almost 60% of the donors who gave were UCR friends and alumni, with faculty, staff, and students making up another 30%. More parents gave in 2021 than in previous years, representing 10% of the overall donors.
The top three campaigns with the most donations were Support UC Riverside Athletics, Guardian Scholars Support for Foster Youth, and University Honors.
The number of project pages also grew from 52 in 2020 to 67 in 2021. New participants this year included Asian Pacific Student Programs; UCR’s Campus Advocacy, Resources, & Education (CARE) Office; UCR Emeriti and Retirees Associations; Undergraduate Education; and UCR Natural Reserves.
