Facing the threat of losing hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding, the University of California is asking its supporters to protect its mission.
Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to join the Speak Up for Science campaign and take action in several ways.
The campaign describes how the proposed cuts will hurt Americans and how science funding and UC research has benefited the country in myriad ways from important health and technological breakthroughs to creating new jobs and economic growth.
Here’s how to join the Speak Up for Science campaign:
• Take the pledge to Stand Up for UC.
• Email members of Congress to ask them to reject proposed cuts to agencies like the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Energy.
• Show support through social media using specially designed graphics, a Zoom background, or a Giphy sticker.
• Stay informed through science and budget news updates and a fact sheet on the impact of federal science funding.
• Join the UC Advocacy Network.
• Amplify related posts on UCR’s official Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter sites.
• Share your story as a student, alumni, faculty, or staff member about what UC means to you.
