Staff colleagues,

You are invited and encouraged to apply to be the next Staff Advisor to the Regents. Applications will be accepted through Monday, April 1 at 5 p.m.

The staff advisor program allows for two staff or non-Senate academic employees to participate in open sessions of the Board of Regents meetings as well as designated committees of the board, bringing the voice and perspective of staff and non-Senate academic employees to the table. Staff advisors are selected from the pool of applicants by UC President Janet Napolitano in consultation with the Board of Regents and serve for two years. You can learn more about the current staff advisors, Sherry Main and Kate Klimow, and their roles at their website.

Candidates for the staff advisors should be personable, have the ability to interact with a broad range of people, and be committed to presenting the staff perspective on issues facing the Regents. Because service as the staff advisor requires a substantial time commitment, candidates’ supervisors will need to provide a statement of support that ensures the applicant, if appointed, will be provided with the necessary release time to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Information about the application process can be found here.
