This summer has been full of sorrow, with four horrific shootings taking place – including in Gilroy, California; Dayton, Ohio; El Paso, Texas; and on Monday, as a gunman opened fire on police officers on the 215-freeway overpass, here in Riverside.
These tragic acts have claimed many innocent lives, left multitudes of people injured, and eroded our collective sense of peace and safety.
On behalf of all of us at UC Riverside we convey our deepest sympathies to the families, friends, and communities of all those affected by these terrible tragedies.
These events are unsettling for our campus but know that the safety and wellbeing of our UCR community is always our highest priority.
