Dear UCR Community:
Tomorrow (10/17) at 10:17 a.m., UCR will take part in the 2019 Great California ShakeOut—a statewide drill aimed at preparing for a major earthquake. All members of the UCR community are encouraged to participate by Dropping, Covering, and Holding On for 60 seconds at 10:17 a.m. Faculty are encouraged to take time from their classes to lead their students in the drill.
As part of the ShakeOut, we will be testing the campus Alertus system, which includes emergency announcements from the Bell Tower speakers and emergency information transmitted directly to computer screens and text. The Department of Earth Sciences will also have a booth at the Bell Tower with information on earthquake hazards and preparedness.
Thank you for helping to keep our campus community prepared.
Sincerely,
Lisa Martin,
Director, Office of Emergency Management
