OVERVIEW

  • There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) related to our campus.
  • Campus housing will remain open, including modified dining and residential life services.
  • Submitted Contract Cancellation Requests for Spring Quarter will be approved without a cancellation fee or penalty.  Rent or room/board fees will be refunded, as appropriate.  Fees for damages and/or cleanliness will still apply.
  • Precautionary modifications to the housing and dining environment will continue to be implemented and recommendations shared to minimize the potential exposure of residents and staff to viruses.

You May Stay…And We Will Serve

As communicated by Chancellor Wilcox, the campus needs to reduce population density on campus because public health officials tell us this is the best way to limit the spread of COVID-19.  If you can return home, we therefore encourage you to do so and to take your personal belongings with you as outlined below.  We understand that there are a number of you who must remain on campus for various reasons.  You are welcome to stay and we will continue to provide services in a modified manner that fits the requirements set by public health authorities and the State of California to protect all of us.

Contract Cancellations & Move-out

In these uncertain times---including the fact that some of your principal reasons for living on campus are looking very different at the moment---we understand that many of you may want to return home to family.

You will not be charged any penalties to cancel your housing contract.  Spring Quarter rent or room/board fees---including those you may have paid in advance---will be prorated as appropriate and refunded to you minus any applicable fees for damage and/or cleanliness.  If you are receiving Financial Aid and return home during the Spring Quarter, it is important that you visit http://financialaid.ucr.edu to learn how your aid may or may not be affected and any additional steps you may need to take.

  • If you are currently still on campus and decide it is best for you to leave, please follow these simple steps:
    1. Submit a Contract Cancellation Request online at MyHousing.ucr.edu by March 27, 2020.
    2. Remove all personal belongings and trash from your room or apartment and properly clean your assigned space.
    3. Place your keys in a move-out envelope provided at your RSO.  Label the envelope with your full name, SID, and building name.  Drop this envelope into the drop-slot at your RSO.
  • If you have already physically left the campus, but your personal belongings remain on campus, please follow these steps:
    1. Submit a Contract Cancellation Request online at MyHousing.ucr.edu by March 27, 2020.
    2. Make plans to return to campus as soon as you are able in order to retrieve your personal belongings, remove trash from and properly clean your assigned space.

Please bring any sanitizing aids that you may need to make you feel more comfortable while moving out.

You will not be cited during move-out as long as you park in a legitimate parking space or along a nearby street curb.

    1. Before leaving campus, place your keys in a move-out envelope provided at your RSO.  Label the envelope with your full name, SID, and building name.  Drop this envelope into the drop-slot at your RSO.

Residents of Bannockburn Village, The Plaza, Falkirk, and Oban

  • Your Campus Apartments Resident Services Office (RSO) at Bannockburn Village will be open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.  We will be closed to the public. So please knock for service if you visit in person.  You may also contact us by phone at (951) 827-5723 or by email at housinginfo@ucr.edu.
  • All mail and parcels will need to be picked up in person at the Campus Apartments RSO during regular business hours.  We regret that staffing must be reduced to only essential levels and will prevent us from delivering to the typical onsite mailboxes.
  • Service Requests for critical or emergency repairs can be submitted

at https://housing.ucr.edu/help‐desk.

  • For after-hours personal and maintenance emergencies, please contact your Residence Life Resident Advisor On Duty or the UC Police Department at (951) 827-5222.

  • As the number of residents living in the Residence Halls declines, it is likely that we will attempt to consolidate remaining residents into one community during Spring Quarter both for your safety and to ensure you remain in close proximity to available services.

Dining Services

  • The A-I Residential Restaurant is now closed for the remainder of the academic year.
  • Meals are tentatively scheduled to be served dine-out style at Lothian Residential Restaurant and The Market @ Glen Mor.
  • As the number of residents in campus housing continues to decrease, dining venues will also be consolidated.  It is critical that you check the http://dining.ucr.edu website to confirm the exact times and locations we will be serving meals during Finals Week, Spring Break (if you have been approved to stay), and Spring Quarter.

2020-21 Contracts & Room Assignments

  • The status of renewed Campus Apartment contracts or requested relocations for the 2020-21 academic year, including Glen Mor, are not affected by current campus conditions.
  • Residents of Bannockburn Village, The Plaza, Falkirk, and Glen Mor who are departing during Spring Quarter and will be returning to one of these same communities for 2020-21 will not need to submit a new Security Deposit.
  • Residents of Stonehaven and International Village who are leaving during Spring Quarter will need to submit new Security Deposits for their 2020-21 contracts.
  • Applications for Campus Apartment spaces and contracts for Residence Hall rooms, including Dundee, are also unaffected by current campus conditions.
  • We are already looking forward to seeing you in the new academic year!

Again, we are sorry that so many of you will not be able to fully experience the things you were eagerly anticipating this academic year.  Whether you are on campus or away from campus, uncertain situations can be isolating and distressing. But you are not alone.  If you need help, ask for it by reaching out to your Resident Director. You may have a question that we have not yet anticipated, or a need of which we are not fully aware. We are here to support you.  We thank you for your patience as our community continues to navigate this experience together.

If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (951)827-6350 or housinginfo@ucr.edu.

Continued good luck in Spring Quarter.  Stay well.
