UCR Information Technology Solutions (ITS) is pleased to announce a new service offering: Cisco Jabber Soft Phone.
What is it?
Cisco Jabber Soft Phone is a software program that allows users to make telephone calls from their computer workstation using their campus phone number.
What value would it bring to my team?
- Users can use their computer as their UCR telephone, including the ability to place, receive, and forward calls
- Users can retain and use their UCR phone number from any location without having a physical desk phone
- Users no longer need to remember or look up phone numbers; a searchable call directory exists within the client
- Jabber-to-Jabber functionality supports video calls and screen sharing
- Users may answer department-level calls; lines may be shared
- Users can set their availability so others can see whether or not they are available for a call
- There is end-of-life support for NEC phones, as UCR will be moving away from traditional telephone services and toward soft phone services in the future
