Dear campus community,
Please join me in congratulating Josh Bright, Senior Program Manager for Information Technology Solutions and former Interim Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer. Josh has just accepted the position of Chief Information Officer at UC Santa Barbara.
Josh has been a member of the UC Riverside community for over two decades, beginning as a student, advancing to earn his Ph.D., and culminating as a career employee of the University.
Over the course of his tenure, Josh has had a significant impact on campus information technology initiatives. During his time as interim AVC and CIO, Josh sponsored the RISE initiative, which equipped all 110 general assignment classrooms with advanced audiovisual technology. This technology helped increase student engagement and learning, provided faculty with new tools that facilitate pedagogical exploration, and effectively expanded UCR's campus blueprint digitally to accommodate a growing student population. Josh also partnered with ITS leadership to bolster the University’s research resources by investing in research computing. In the face of adversity, Josh provided stability to the organization as it continued to navigate the dynamic environment of the pandemic and played an instrumental role in securing the funding needed to tackle longstanding resource constraints.
Josh’s longstanding history with UCR is a testament to the opportunities and fulfillment found on this campus. We appreciate Josh’s many contributions to the Highlander legacy. While it is hard to say goodbye to a great colleague, we know our sister campus will be in good hands.
Josh’s last day with UCR is July 15, 2022. We wish him much success at UCSB!
