On September 15, all UC Riverside faculty, staff, and students will be prompted to verify their cell phone number(s) on file with the university for Emergency Notification System communication purposes. UCR's Emergency Notification System (ENS) effectively keeps all students, faculty, and staff aware of and safe from immediate threats to our campus.

If you currently have a cell phone number on file with the university, you will need to confirm that the number is correct. If you do not currently have a phone number on file with the university, you will be asked to update your contact information in UCPath to include a personal cell phone number. Instructions on updating your contact information in UCPath can be found in the UCR ITS Knowledgebase. Taking the time to update your contact information will allow you to quickly and easily confirm your cell phone number when all of campus is prompted to do so on September 15.

If for any reason, you are unable to complete the verification process when initially prompted on September 15, you will have the option to postpone the verification process for 30 days by selecting the "skip confirmation for 30 days" option. After 30 days, you will receive another prompt to verify your cell phone information for the ENS.

If you decide to opt-out of the ENS entirely, you may do so by selecting "opt-out of ENS," you must confirm that you understand you will not receive text/SMS notifications in the event of an emergency situation affecting the campus. We strongly discourage opting out of ENS, as this system is critical to the safety and wellbeing of each member of our community.

Your safety and the safety of those around you is invaluable. Don't be the last to know. For more background information about the upcoming ENS update, visit https://its.ucr.edu/ENS-Update.
