Transportation Services is once again partnering with LifeStream Blood Bank to host the annual Donations for Citations Blood Drive on October 31st and November 1st. The program provides an opportunity to donate blood as an alternative to paying a citation fee. Donors will receive full credit towards a single parking violation with a fine up to $79. However, it cannot be applied to citations that have accrued late fees.
We realize that not everyone can or wants to give blood for various reasons. If you try to give blood but are denied for any reason, you will still qualify. You also have the option of having a friend or co-worker donate in your name. In fact, anyone can donate blood regardless of whether you have a citation or not. A receipt will be handed out to each person that attempts to donate (at the TAPS location) and you can use that receipt towards your own citation, give it to a friend to pay off their citation, or give it to TAPS staff to pay off a random citation done through a raffle. You can even get credit for more than one citation as long as there is a receipt for each one.
The program not only helps UCR students, faculty and staff by providing an alternative to paying their citation, but it also provides much needed support to fulfill the blood donation needs for our local community.
The blood drive will be held at Transportation Services on October 31 and November 1, 2022, between 9am-3pm. To reserve a time, go to LifeStream's website to schedule an appointment. You may also donate blood at any official blood bank between October 24 – November 1, 2022. Just make sure to ask for a receipt or proof of donation to redeem at Transportation Services by end of day November 2, 2022.
