Dear Campus Community:

As the earth rotates and fills the late autumn night sky with longer periods of darkness, holiday lights have again appeared in windows and on buildings throughout Riverside. Last weekend, the Mission Inn’s annual Festival of Lights commenced. Regularly featured on lists of the country’s best light displays, the annual celebration welcomes guests from near and far. UC Riverside blue and gold contribute additional color on signs and at photo stations.

Join the Highlander community on Friday, December 9 for UCR Night at the Festival of Lights. Enjoy entertainment by UCR and local performers and stop by the UCR “Bold Hearts. Brilliant Minds.” booth (near UCR ARTS) for a special photo op with Scotty. Wear your blue and gold UCR gear to take part in an opportunity drawing.

Giving Tuesday is today, November 29

Today is Giving Tuesday, the international day of giving. We participate by raising funds in support of our brilliant students, research, and programs. Please visit our website to donate or learn more. Thank you for considering a gift to UCR.

Another successful Homecoming

Thank you to everyone who participated in Homecoming 2022, either by welcoming alumni back to campus or as one of our Highlander faithful. The weekend included a celebration for current students, Spirit of the Tribes 5k, Beach Boys concert, men’s basketball and women’s volleyball games, fundraising galas, 40 under 40 brunch, stargazing event, individual school events, and classic car show. Be sure to check out the photos that show what a success it was.

Impact23: Upgrading our financial systems

I invite you to learn more about Impact23, an initiative to update our financial systems with cloud-based applications. These changes will modernize our infrastructure to align with UCOP’s Common Chart of Accounts. You can learn more about these updates here.

As we continue toward fall quarter’s end, we acknowledge our current challenges and remain hopeful that a contract resolution will soon be reached.
