Dear Campus Community,

After a nationwide search, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Talbott as UC Riverside’s Director of Campus Safety Services (Chief of Police).

Talbott has nearly 40 years of experience in the law enforcement profession, most recently as the Associate Vice President for Public Safety and Emergency Management at the University of Redlands. Previous to that, he served as the Chief of the California Highway Patrol. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Business Administration from California Coast University.

Talbott is committed to the philosophy and practice of servant – leadership, focused on developing and maintaining collaborative excellence, both with the diverse internal community served and with all external partners. He has extensive budgeting, strategic planning, policy development, law enforcement management, statutory compliance, personnel mentoring, labor relations, interagency collaboration, and community outreach experience. I look forward to his leadership of the UC Riverside Police Department and his advisement as a member of my leadership team. His first day at UCR will be December 12.

I also want to thank and congratulate Anthony Frisbee, who has served as UCR’s Interim Director of Campus Safety Services (Chief of Police). He will be assuming the role of Chief of Police at Cal State University Fullerton, effective January 1, 2023.
