In support of UC Riverside’s strategic goal to expand the university’s visibility and scope of influence locally, nationally, and globally, UCR has invested in Academic Analytics. As Provost Elizabeth Watkins shared in her fall campus update letter, this tool will showcase faculty research activity, assist in faculty collaboration, and facilitate access to grant opportunities.

The pilot phase is currently underway in preparation for the full launch of Academic Analytics in Spring 2025. Select UCR faculty members are testing the tool, which entails reviewing the data on their Academic Analytics profile and public page, customizing their profile, testing the opt-out feature for the public page, and providing feedback on their user experience.

What is Academic Analytics?

UCR’s instance of Academic Analytics includes two key components: Faculty Insight and External Discovery. Faculty Insight offers data-driven analysis of a faculty member’s academic and research activities, which can be used to identify opportunities for greater visibility, as well as locate faculty within and outside of the university for potential interdisciplinary projects. External Discovery connects faculty with a global network of experts and research institutions, expanding opportunities for collaboration and partnership beyond UCR.

When will I have access to Academic Analytics?

Faculty can expect to gain access to Academic Analytics in late Winter 2025, at which time they will be able to view and edit information on their Faculty Insight profile, as well as opt out of the public display of their profile. In Spring 2025, the External Discovery site, a publicly accessible website which displays Faculty Insight profile information, will formally launch.

Dedicated support resources, including detailed guides and training resources, will be available on the Academic Analytics website in the coming months to assist faculty in maximizing the benefits of Academic Analytics.
