Dear Campus Community,
Kim McDade will step down from her roles as interim vice chancellor for Development and Alumni Engagement, or DAE, and chief financial and administrative officer (CFAO), effective April 3, to serve as the vice president, finance and controller at Hoag Hospital Foundation, based in Newport Beach.
Since joining UC Riverside in 2018, Kim has led administrative operations within DAE (formerly part of University Advancement) as the CFAO, managed the infrastructure of closing Living the Promise, UCR’s first comprehensive campaign, and the Beyond Brilliant fundraising initiative. She has worked closely with the UCR Foundation Board of Trustees managing the Foundation’s fiscal operations and endowment investments. Most recently, she led DAE as interim vice chancellor during a critical period of transition and momentum.
Kim’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening operational effectiveness across the organization. Her ability to streamline processes and provide steady fiscal and administrative oversight has positioned both the unit and the university for continued success. Her contributions reflect a deep expertise in financial management and a strong commitment to UCR’s mission.
As you may know, we are actively conducting a search for a permanent vice chancellor for DAE, and that process will continue.
Given the scope and strategic importance of the role, I have appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor, Alumni Engagement Jorge Ancona as the interim vice chancellor for DAE effective April 3, continuing until the new vice chancellor arrives on campus. Jorge brings broad experience in development and alumni relations to the interim role, having served in his present role at UCR since 2013. Prior to joining UCR, Jorge worked in an alumni relations leadership position at UCLA, and in alumni relations and philanthropy at UC Irvine.
I am confident this approach will ensure continuity and allow DAE to move forward without disruption.
Please join me in thanking Kim for her many contributions to UC Riverside over the past eight years and in wishing her continued success in her next chapter. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to Jorge for his willingness to step into this important role.
