Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Sandy Kirtland Turner will serve as Special Advisor to the Provost on Sustainability, starting July 1. Sandy is Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences and director of the Environmental Dynamics and GeoEcology (EDGE) Institute at UCR. She is a paleoceanographer, paleoclimatologist, and Earth system modeler, whose research focuses on the coupled dynamics of the carbon cycle and climate past, present, and future. Sandy has served on the Campus Sustainability Committee for the past five years, and she has been leading a team of faculty to develop a cross-campus minor in Sustainability. Sandy has tremendous experience in and commitment to sustainability education and research, and I look forward to working with her in this capacity.

I also want to thank Juliann Allison for her four years of service as Faculty Chair of the Campus Sustainability Committee and inaugural Special Advisor to the Provost on Sustainability.

Faculty members interested in joining the Campus Sustainability Committee should reach out directly to Professor Kirtland Turner.
