During the 43rdAnnual American Indian Film Festival, Department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production Assistant Professor Kimberly Guerrero brought home the Best Music Video award.
The award was in recognition for the video created by The StyleHorse Collective, a production company made up of indigenous creatives co-founded by Guerrero, during the annual festival in November. The award is for the music video “We,” sung by the sister-signing group Thunderbirds Raised Her, which was inspired by the global gathering of protestors at Standing Rock Indian Reservation against the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016-2017.
The StyleHorse Collective works with tribal organizations to create educational film and music projects. The group produced the music and the music video for "We" from concept to delivery.
