Dear Campus Community,
The 2020 Census is right around the corner and we want to encourage staff to do their best to make sure all of our students are counted. Please join us for an informational workshop regarding the Census 2020 and UCR Counts! campaign on Monday, December 16, 2019, rsvp link here.
Importance of the 2020 Census
The Census helps determine many critical things like how much federal funding the states will receive and what our representation will look like both locally and in congress. Marginalized communities—folks of color, immigrants, folks for whom English is a second language, young and mobile students—are designated as hard-to-count communities. A large portion of our UCR students fit into one of these hard-to-count communities and it is critical that we do all that we can to make sure our students are counted where they are!
Your input and participation at this meeting are essential, and we hope that you can join us.
