Whether you’re a long-term employee or just getting started in your career, it’s important to take an active role in planning for a secure retirement. UC offers education and counseling to support you along the way — all available at no cost to you. The UCR Human Resources Office is sponsoring a Pre-Retirement Planning Workshop Series open to all UCR faculty, staff and retirees to provide information about resources and steps you will need to take in order to plan for your retirement from UC.

Preparing for Retirement

Meet retirement counselors from the UC Retirement Administration Service Center as they explain your UC retirement benefits and eligibility rules for retiree health, describe the steps you need to take when you're ready to retire and answer your questions.

Fundamentals of Retirement Income Planning

Medicare Workshop

  • Eligibility requirements
  • Explanation of Medicare Parts A, B, C and D
  • Continuing to work when you are Medicare eligible
  • What are the differences between employee, retiree and UC health coverage plans

Pre-Retirement Planning Workshop
Wednesday, February 5, 2020 | 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. | CHASS INTS 1113

The UCR Benefits office will be providing an overview of the pre-retirement process including reviewing a checklist of items require to be prepared to retire.

The following will be discussed:

  • Forecast your best date for retirement
  • See an estimate of your retirement benefits at different age scenarios (income planning)
  • Review the 3-step retirement process from start to finish
  • Obtain estimates and review the eligibility for continuing retiree health benefits
  • Discuss the UC Medicare coordination process
  • Obtain information on the benefits of joining the UCR Emeriti and Retirees' Associations
  • How to navigate the process through the Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC)
