Re: UC Policy and Program Updates
This communication is to provide an immediate update on information that may impact supervisors, managers, staff employees and you.
As you may be aware, the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) is being amended effective January 1, 2023, to permit employees to take protected leave to care for a “designated person” with a serious health condition. Please see the attached Guidance Regarding CFRA and Family and Medical Leave (FML) forms, which reflect these changes. The updated forms are available online here. Please share this information with all employees in your department who play a role in administering FML.
The Family and Medical Leave Fact Sheet has been updated to reflect the changes to CFRA, and the updated version will be online on January 1. The FML provisions in collective bargaining agreements will be updated to reflect the CFRA changes when successor agreements are negotiated.
Please note: Central HR will provide an “in-person” briefing and Q&A session on the changes in January.
If you have questions related to this communication, please e-mail your question(s) to: demetrius.patrick@ucr.edu
