Residential Education: First Generation Mentorship Program
November 24, 2025

Hello Highlander Staff and Faculty!

Residential Education’s First-Generation Initiatives Committee, in collaboration with the UCR First-Gen Committee, is hosting our 4th annual First-Generation Conference - Trailblazing Together on January 30, 2026 from 9am-4pm. It is a conference-style event for our ALL First-Generation students. This event is intended to encourage themes of  within and to provide helpful information/resources for our 1st-gen students to succeed in their college journey.

We invite staff and faculty to share sessions that empower first-gen Highlanders to explore the intersections of their identities, engage deeply with campus resources, and build meaningful scholarly and collaborative connections. Proposed sessions should support participants in reflecting on who they are, discovering tools that advance their academic goals, and engaging in learning experiences that promote both personal and professional growth.

If you’re passionate about uplifting the first-gen community through dialogue, storytelling, research, or skill-building—we want to hear from you!

You can submit a presentation proposal HERE by 11:59PM on Friday, December 12. We’re excited to host our 4th Conference and hope you all can assist in making it successful!

Any questions can be directed to kelsey.shook@ucr.edu and or Roselyn.Campos@ucr.edu.

Thank you!
