UC Riverside celebrated the start of a new academic year with the annual Chancellor’s Faculty and Staff Picnic Wednesday, Sept. 9.
About 950 employees joined the lunchtime gathering at the HUB where they dined on Hawaiian barbecue, macaroni salad, and fresh fruit on a sweltering hot day. Another 150 lunches were provided to go for staff members whose job shifts did not allow them to join the picnic.
As part of this year’s theme, campus leaders helping to serve food wore Hawaiian shirts and passed out leis.
Many attendees dined indoors while others braved the outdoor plaza where several campus organizations hosted informational tables. Two Tikkiz food trucks offered shaved ice with a variety of flavors
