To support face covering requirements*, Environmental Health & Safety continues to provide face coverings for UCR employees at no charge. For efficient distribution, supervisors may submit a request in bulk on behalf of their employees. Alternatively, employees now may directly submit a request with a notification sent to their supervisor. Combined with physical distancing, washing hands, and staying home when ill, increasing evidence shows that face coverings that cover the nose and mouth help to limit the spread of COVID-19 by minimizing droplet transmission when a person talks, coughs, or sneezes.
To adhere to state, local, and UC requirements, face coverings are required for all personnel while on the UCR campus.
- Personnel are required to wear their face covering indoors at all times, even if they are alone within a space.
- Personnel walking or working alone outdoors must have a face covering with them and put on the face covering if they come within 6 feet of other individuals not living in the same household.
*In April 2020, Riverside County ordered individuals to wear face coverings when leaving their residence. UCR's commitment to the health and safety of our community immediately led to EH&S providing guidance and support for the distribution of face coverings to all UCR personnel. The UC and State later updated their recommendations to mandate face coverings, which aligned with the County order.
