Dear UCR Colleagues,

On April 1, 2020, at the earlier stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, we announced the following interim practices:

*Review, postpone, or suspend all open faculty and staff searches, with exceptional approval required by the cognizant Vice Chancellor, Dean or organizational head to move forward.  Human Resources and Academic Personnel will institute monthly reports to track approved exceptions.

*Review, postpone, or suspend any pending compensation actions for staff, including but not limited to off-cycle equity adjustments, reclassifications, or retentions, which will require endorsement by the cognizant Vice Chancellor, Dean, or organizational head, followed by exceptional approval by the Provost to move forward.

*Suspend STAR and SPOT awards, until further notice.

This communication notes the termination of these interim practices effective April 1, 2021, with all authority delegated to the organizational unit head.

The April 1, 2020, communication also noted that we would suspend the salary equity review process for staff, scheduled for FY20-21, until further notice.  We are still reviewing this matter, along with working with the UC Office of the President to determine what salary adjustments will be approved for non-represented staff for FY22.  When we have final information on these issues we will communicate them to the campus.

We would like to take this opportunity to again thank every member of our campus community – faculty, staff and students, for their extraordinary efforts in dealing with this pandemic emergency and continuing to serve UCR.  We hope that sometime in the near future we will be able to achieve a return to pre-COVID operations, although this emergency will no doubt bring about some ongoing changes to what we assumed was “normal” at the time.
