Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce that Marko Princevac has been selected to serve as vice provost of international affairs, effective April 1. As UCR’s chief academic officer for international programs and engagement, his responsibilities will include international students and scholars, education abroad programs, and international recruitment, as well as the development and implementation of a distinctive vision for UCR’s international strategy, consistent with our mission and priorities.

Marko has been a member of the faculty of the department of mechanical engineering since 2004, rising through the ranks to become full professor in 2016. He has been serving as interim vice provost since the summer of 2020, leading the Office of International Affairs during the challenging and uncertain times of the pandemic, while simultaneously serving as associate dean for student academic affairs in the Bourns College of Engineering. Effective April 1, Marko will begin working full time in the Office of International Affairs.

As a former exchange student and international scholar himself, Marko knows the life-changing possibilities of a university’s international services and resources, and he feels passionate about providing those opportunities for others.

I also would like to thank the search committee, chaired by Dean Kevin Vaughn, for identifying a strong pool of candidates and providing sound advice at each step of the selection process.
