Campus units’ migration to R’Mail, UC Riverside’s Google email and calendaring platform, is in full swing and on track for meeting campus leadership’s goal of having all Highlanders on a common email and calendaring platform by Fall 2025.
As of March 2025, over 1,700 UCR staff have transitioned to R’Mail from Outlook and more are scheduled to migrate in the coming months. Information Technology Solutions (ITS) encourages campus unit leaders to schedule their team’s migration by May 2, 2025, to ensure that they secure a date that works well for their organization, as limited slots are available in the migration calendar.
To schedule your unit’s migration, please send an email to the R’Mail Services team at rmailservices@ucr.edu and the team will assist you in coordinating a migration plan and timeline that works well for your staff. To facilitate a seamless migration experience, campus units are asked to migrate all staff at the same time.
Join the Welcome to R’Mail Sessions and Office Hours
All UCR staff and faculty are invited to join the Welcome to R’Mail webinar, an informational session held by ITS every first Wednesday of the month at 3:00 PM. This session provides an overview of the migration process and addresses any questions related to it.
Additionally, ITS holds a monthly R’Mail Migration Office Hour every third Thursday of the month at 11:00 AM. This is open for those who have follow-up questions regarding the migration process and those who would like to receive IT support related to R’Mail.
R’Mail Migration Resources Are Available for Your Organization
To ensure that campus units are well prepared for their migration to R’Mail, ITS developed robust resources that provide more information about the R’Mail user experience. All migrating units are highly encouraged to take the time to complete the following prior to migration:
● Visit the R’Mail Migration webpage to learn more about R’Mail, including access, the migration checklist, and training resources (UCR login required).
● Watch the R’Mail training videos on demand. ITS strongly encourages everyone to complete training prior to the move, as it covers the most important functions and features of Gmail and Google Calendar.
● Read the R’Mail FAQs. Find answers to common questions asked by UCR staff who have made the switch to R’Mail, including what’s included in the migration and what happens to Microsoft productivity tools after a unit migrates.
