Caltrans has begun work on a pavement improvement project along Interstate 215 near UC Riverside.

The work, which includes new pavement, guardrail enhancements, and new signage, will take place between south of the Highway 60/91 interchange and south of Martin Luther King Boulevard. 

The state transportation agency began putting up signs this week and will soon place concrete barriers along the route, according to an agency news release. Project work will mainly involve nighttime construction with occasional day and weekend work as needed.

Motorists should expect to see alternating ramp and lane closures in both directions Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Two lanes will be open at all hours.

The project, which will include new landscaping and electrical work, is scheduled for completion by fall 2026.
