We are getting closer to launching UC Riverside’s new employee self-service portal, R’Employee Services, on May 1, 2026! UCR Human Resources (HR), in partnership with Information Technology Solutions (ITS), is diligently working to ensure that the portal truly meets the needs of UCR employees. End-to-end process walkthroughs are underway, and we are working closely with our HR partners, SSC leaders, and subject matter experts to refine the user experience.

As we count down to the May 1 launch of the R'Employee Services Portal, stop by Hinderaker Patio on April 28th from 12:00 to 1:00 PM for a casual meet-and-greet with the Avanti project team and your campus colleagues. The event provides an opportunity to chat and connect with the Avanti team and features leadership insights including remarks from S. Alex. Nájera, Chief HR Officer and Associate Vice Chancellor, and Matthew Gunkel, Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice Chancellor. Additionally, you can participate in a live Q&A session to get your questions about the R’Employee Services portal answered before the May 1 launch, all while enjoying light refreshments. Leave of Absence Requests
As part of our ongoing commitment to streamlining HR services and improving the employee experience across UCR, please be advised that effective May 1, all Leave of Absence requests—with the strict exception of academic leaves—will be managed exclusively through the R'Employee Services Portal and processed within the HRSD Agent Workspace. Academic leaves will continue to follow their current distinct processes.
As campus leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), your partnership is vital in championing this transition and guiding your teams through this change. We rely on your support to ensure that all staff and administrators fully adopt this centralized workflow moving forward, which will ultimately provide a more efficient, transparent, and standardized leave management process for our campus community.
Training Opportunities
● HR partners and SSC staff are invited to join the training events happening in April and May. We will be covering key topics, including Leave of Absence, ELR, Benefits, and Class & Comp.
● Campuswide Staff (represented and non-represented) are encouraged to join us for training on the following topics:
○ How to use the R’Employee Services portal
○ How to submit a request for:
■ Leave of Absence via the portal (Staff employees only)
■ Retirement Counseling
■ Catastrophic Leave
■ UC Learning services
