UC Riverside Chancellor S. Jack Hu has been named a fellow of the Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering for his contributions to the field.
Being inducted as a fellow is among the academy’s top honors, “recognizing exceptional accomplishments, sustained leadership, and significant contributions to science, engineering, technology, innovation, and society.”
A distinguished professor of mechanical engineering, Hu was specifically recognized for his leadership in manufacturing systems and academic administration.
Hu became UC Riverside’s 10th chancellor in July 2025 after nearly 40 years of experience in higher education, including serving as provost at the University of Georgia.
The 2026 fellows will be formally inducted at the academy’s biennial summit in November, which will be held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
