University Communications has launched a new events newsletter called Coming Up at UCR. While we already include a small number of featured events in our UCR Life and Inside UCR weekly newsletters, we wanted to provide another opportunity to highlight even more events. Coming Up at UCR will start off biweekly but we hope to move to weekly if we have enough events worth spotlighting.
Here are a few tips on how to get events included in the newsletter:
Titles/Descriptions. The newsletter pulls events straight from your Localist submission but will only include around 150 characters from your description before cutting off. We’ll be looking to select events with titles and descriptions that are clear and concise in providing relevant information.
Images. When you submit an event and don’t include an image, it defaults to one already in the library, such as the campus logo. Those events with more distinctive images are more likely to be selected for the newsletter since we don’t want to have one that all have the same image.'
Timing. We suggest adding events at least seven days in advance if you can. This newsletter also provides the opportunity to let people plan for events that might be farther off so if you have a big event coming up the sooner you can submit it the better.
