Hey Highlander Faculty & Staff!

Residential Life is gearing up to launch 2022-2023 student applications for First Generation Mentorship Program and we are looking for new mentors.

During this last year’s pilot launch we were able to offer mentorship to well over 50 First Generation College Students living on campus. This year we are looking to increase that number!

Through our First Gen Mentorship Program (FGMP) we want to give students an opportunity to:

  1. Connect with at least 3 campus offices/resources, faculty, students, or staff that also identify as first-generation.
  2. Identify successful strategies that contribute to their academic and personal success during their time at UC Riverside.
  3. Express their personal identity, perspective, and develop critical thinking skills to challenge societal norms within and outside the University setting.

Ultimately, we want to help first-generation college students navigate their college experience while creating a safe space for students to express themselves, receive assistance to overcome their unique challenges, and prepare them for a brighter future.

With this, we also wanted to provide a great opportunity for First Generation Students to connect with faculty and staff. If you are interested in becoming a mentor please click the link to sign up below.
