Itopia Virtual Lab Access, Training, and Support

Dear UCR Faculty,

UC Riverside offers Itopia Virtual Labs to all faculty, students, and staff. The virtual machines in Itopia are preloaded with specialty software like ArcGIS, making it a flexible and convenient platform for remote teaching, research, and collaboration.

How to Access

Log in to the Itopia portal using your Google credentials (netid@ucr.edu). This will give you the student view and access to the labs. KB0011394 provides more information on getting started in Itopia.

If you would like to create a lab specific to your class, please submit a ticket and include your class name and class roster. Creating a lab for your class will allow you to configure your virtual lab environment based on your specific needs. Additional benefits of having a specialized virtual lab include:

  1. Class roster management 
  2. Ability to schedule virtual sessions 
  3. Ability to remotely shadow student workstations 
  4. Ability to start all workstations in the class at the same time
  5. Class-specific usage reporting
