More than 12,000 people attended the Fifth Annual Riverside Insect Fair in downtown Riverside on Saturday, April 27 to learn about bugs from the crawly to the colorful.

The fair was hosted by the UC Riverside Entomology Graduate Student Association and city of Riverside.

“The Insect Fair is a fantastic opportunity to expose the public to insects and arthropods,” said Entomology Department Chair Richard Redak. “As they have in years past, our entomology graduate students did a wonderful job organizing the event.”

Visitors had the opportunity to visit more than 40 booths, ask questions of scientists, view insects through microscopes, enter a butterfly tent, and purchase books and jewelry.
