UC Riverside staff and faculty are showing support for their favorite programs and departments as part of “Together,” a month-long fundraising effort.
May has been designated Faculty and Staff Giving Month as part of UCR’s first comprehensive campaign, “Living the Promise: The Campaign for UC Riverside.” The university is approaching 80% of its $300 million goal, securing nearly $240 million in gifts toward the effort, which concludes in 2020. Campaign gifts will help students, support faculty and their research and creative activities, build new infrastructure around campus, as well as fund endowed chairs, research, and university programs.
Faculty and staff may donate to any fund of their choice, giving online, via payroll deduction (download form) or a gift/pledge form (download form).
For the May fundraiser, one staff member, who wishes to remain anonymous, has agreed to provide $1,000 to each of the five funds with the most faculty and staff donors at the end of the month.
“I’ve been fortunate to see firsthand how impactful it can be when a group of passionate people come together to support causes they care about,” said Crystal Sankey, director of annual giving in UCR’s Office of Development. “At UCR, it’s easy to give knowing how far our contributions can go in making a difference in the lives of our hardworking, deserving students.”
The 2018-19 fiscal year drew the highest number of faculty and staff donors since 2012, with 662 faculty and staff members making donations to the university as of April 10.
“For me, my giving is simply giving back,” said Andy Plumley ’82, assistant vice chancellor for Auxiliary Services. “I never imagined when I came to the campus in the fall of 1977 that I would be provided opportunities for learning, for growing, and for being able to make a difference in the lives of students.”
