UC Riverside is planning for a return to in-person instruction and operations this fall. Find out below what services are available and what to expect as the campus gradually reopens.
All dining venues are closed for the summer. A gradual reopening of campus food operations is planned as early as late August with exact details and scheduling to be determined.
Check the Dining Services website for updates.
Water fountains/hydration stations
Most drinking fountains have been blocked in accordance with state guidelines but are expected to be back functioning by mid-August. Facilities Service is retrofitting some water fountains so that every campus building has gooseneck bottle refill capability on the first floor. Hydration stations available for use can be found on the Hand Sanitizer & Water Refill Stations map.
The HUB will remain closed for the summer and expects to reopen its on-campus operations in September, when the core of the building and student lounges will be accessible. The second floor restroom will remain open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Some limited approved events will be allowed through the summer. The HUB will be closed for events from Sept. 4 to Sept. 19 to prepare for the fall. Student organizations will be allowed to make space reservations for the academic year beginning on Aug. 2. Other departments can begin reserving space for the fall quarter starting Aug. 16. Contact email@example.com for more information.
Most campus buildings remain locked during the summer with access via key for those with approval from supervisors. Facilities Services is working with the Operational Continuity Workgroup and the campus to determine a date for full return to normal building access hours. Once that date is determined, it will be communicated to building occupants.
The UC Riverside Police Department remains fully staffed for dispatch and patrol operations. The department’s lobby hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Officers continue to conduct high-visibility patrols on and around campus. Community service officers patrol campus housing areas and are available for walking escort on campus.
Campus parking lots are open. Transportation Services is offering a variety of permit options based on individual needs. Those include permits available for purchase on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly schedule, as well as a 10-pack of one-day permits.
The UCR Bookstore is open for limited summer hours Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Online orders can also be placed for textbooks, apparel, and other items.
UCR Library is offering limited in-person services for the summer including appointment use of Special Collections, University Archives, and microforms collection. Lending materials and other remote services are available through curbside delivery.
The library expects to reopen buildings to the campus community in late summer, shortly before the fall quarter begins. Visit the library’s website for more information on remote services.
Summer housing is not being offered, but campus residential facilities are expected to be open at near normal capacity in the fall quarter. Reservations are being accepted for fall housing. Find out more at the department’s website.
