Riverside Transit Agency, or RTA, is detouring buses that serve UC Riverside due to roadwork that is expected to last for a few weeks.
Bus stops on Canyon Crest and Campus drives will not be served during the detour. Those include routes that stop at Bannockburn Village and the campus entrance at University Avenue, and loop around with stops at the south, east, and north end of campus.
Five lines serve the campus: Routes 1, 16, 51, 56, and 204. All are affected by the detour.
During the detour, RTA has established a temporary layover and transfer point at Iowa Avenue between University and Linden Street.
Signs have been placed on poles at campus bus stops to notify riders of the change. Riders can call RTA’s customer information center at 951-565-5002 for assistance.
Canyon Crest Drive between University Avenue and Blaine Street has been partially closed due to construction work. Riverside city crews are installing a sewer line that will serve UCR’s North District Phase 2 student housing complex.
RTA has informed UCR that its buses cannot drive the closure area due to safety reasons and will resume normal service once that portion of the road is clear, which is expected by mid-April, said Tara Pueschel, transportation demand management specialist with Transportation and Parking Services.
