The UC Riverside Women's Tennis and the Men's Cross Country teams were honored with an NCAA academic award that illustrates the teams dedication to excelling in the classroom.

Both teams received the NCAA Public Recognition Award which is bestowed upon teams with an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports based on the APR data released in May 2019.

The Women's Tennis team has now successfully been awarded the prestigious honor for the 10th straight year. It has continued to show the dedication on the courts as well as in the classroom for the program.

"Our 10th consecutive NCAA Public Recognition Award is just a reminder of the quality student-athlete that continue to advance through our tennis program. It's a privilege to work with such outstanding individuals," Head Coach Mark Henry said.

This is the second consecutive year that the Men's Cross Country team received the award. Director of Track and Field Nate Browne talked about what it means for the program. "It's an honor for our program to receive this award and it's a testament to the recruiting and mentorship of Assistant Coach Rob Hansen. Our guys are committed to their majors and take the academic process personally," he said.
