UC Riverside’s Transportation Services was named an organization of the year by an international parking and transportation organization.
The department was recognized by the International Parking & Mobility Institute, a world-wide association of professionals in parking, mobility, and transportation. UCR was nominated and won in its 2025 Professional Recognition Awards for pioneering transportation programs that serve both the campus and community, the institute stated in a news release.
“The department’s active role in strategic campus planning promotes the long-term integration of mobility solutions, sustainability, and equity,” the institute stated. “Whether planting trees, shaping policy, or improving everyday access, UCR Transportation Services exemplifies how a university department can lead transformational change.”
This year’s winners were honored at the institute’s June conference and are featured in the July issue of Parking and Mobility magazine.
The magazine feature lauds programs such as Donations for Citations, an annual blood drive that covers the costs of first parking citations; planting of fruit trees near parking lots; and UCR’s partnership with Riverside Transit Agency, which provides students and employees free bus passes. The article also notes how the department has implemented technology such as license plate recognition to streamline parking on campus.
“It is an honor to be recognized as a leader in our industry, but the biggest honor for us is the recognition of all of the hard work our staff put in every day to provide the highest quality service to our campus and the surrounding community,” said Irma Henderson, director of transportation services.
