UC Riverside has received three awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, or CASE, for its marketing work.
University Relations won awards in three categories in the 2023 Best of District VII Awards, for the region representing parts of the western United States.
In the storytelling in communications category, UCR was recognized for the 40 Under 40 alumni engagement and storytelling initiative, which included profiles of prominent early career alumni through features in UCR Magazine, videos, and other digital elements.
The second award was for an op-ed published in Inside Higher Ed in which Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox called attention to the difference between institutions that effectively serve Latino students and those that enroll large numbers to gain Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) designation and access to funding without investing in support services for Latino students. The op-ed won in the writing category for a column or opinion piece.
Finally, the department was honored in the long-form profile writing category for an article about Campus Architect Jacqueline Norman that described her family ties to UCR and her role in in defending the campus’ architectural heritage. The profile was written by John Warren, senior director of News & Content, and featured photos by Stan Lim, photography manager.
