
UCR’s virtual computer lab (VLab) service, itopia, is designed to support the instructional needs of our students and faculty, both on and off campus. The VLab service is made possible by the Student Technology Fee (STF) and enables Highlanders to complete their coursework without needing to obtain a software license or use a specific computer operating system.
How to Access the Virtual Computer Lab
To access UCR’s virtual computer lab, visit the CloudApps Classroom portal and follow these login instructions:
- Click “Sign in with Google”
- Enter your UCR NetID email address (e.g., scottyb@ucr.edu) to be directed to the CAS login page
- In the CAS login page, enter your UCR NetID (e.g., scottyb) and password
- Verify your identity using multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- In the itopia Privacy Policy page, click “Continue” to enter the CloudApps Classroom portal

If the specialty software you need is not in the VLab, you may fill out the Virtual Lab Request Form to request access to your desired software application. If the university has licensing for it, please allow two weeks of lead time for installation.
