An opening date has been set for the Barn.

The renovated and expanded dining complex will hold a grand opening celebration April 29 and formally open to the general public May 2, Dining Services announced last week. It will be preceded by a soft opening in mid-April.

Construction is mostly complete on the project, although the contractor is completing some final checks and details. Dining Services has begun training its staff members at the Barn and assembling equipment such as shelving and racks.

Pierce Hall is on track to see work completed on the first phase of a renovation project later this month. The new instructional labs and classrooms are expected to be in use after spring break with construction work shifting to the center wing of Pierce Hall for the second phase, expected to be completed in March 2021.

Construction is underway on a new parking structure at Lot 13, near Big Springs Road, part of which was fenced off in late January. Demolition of existing asphalt and curbs will take place this month.

Work is also continuing on the Student Success Center with crews installing a retaining wall and pouring concrete for the foundation. Much of the lawn area south of the CHASS Interdisciplinary building and east of the Student Services building will be fenced off for the duration of construction through summer 2021. Check the project website for regular construction updates and a live video feed.

Other projects continue to make progress including the Dundee-Glasgow and North District student housing complexes, and the Plant Growths Environment Facility, which is expected to be completed in September.
