UC Riverside kicked off the upcoming fall quarter Thursday, Sept. 8, with the return of the Chancellor’s Staff and Faculty Picnic at Hinderaker Lawn.

Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox welcomed staff and faculty members, noting that this was the first time the campus has been able to host the event, which had been held annually before the pandemic, in three years.

“It’s nice to be back seeing the new faces and old faces and marking the new year the way it’s supposed to be marked,” he said.

Staff and faculty members picked up boxed lunches and drinks and enjoyed their meals at tables set up around the lawn. A KUCR booth played music on loudspeakers while other campus organizations hosted booths. Staff Assembly, which co-sponsored the picnic, handed out ice cream bars for dessert.
