UC Riverside faculty are honored at promotion ceremony

More than 80 faculty members promoted and recognized for their contributions

UC Riverside honored promoted faculty members at a luncheon at the Alumni and Visitors Center on Jan. 30. 

About 40 people attended, including Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox. Supervisors and colleagues joined those who were honored in celebrating their efforts.

Promotions occurred across UCR schools, including the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences; College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences; Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering; School of Education; School of Business; and School of Medicine.

Bourns College of Engineering

The following faculty members were promoted to tenure - Muhammad Salman Asif, Sinisa Coh, Ahmed S. Eldawy, Konstantinos Karydis, Chen Li, Jinyong Liu, Giulia Palermo, Chengyu Song, Hung-wei Tseng, Richard Wilson, and Daniel Wong. Juchen Guo, Lorenzo Mangolini, Manu Sridharan, Ian R. Wheeldon were promoted to full professor. Kadangode K. Ramakrishnan earned the title of distinguished professor, with faculty members Wei Ren and Amit Roy-Chowdhury receiving recognition for reaching another plateau of achievements.

College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences

Among those honored for earning tenure were Anna Betbeze, John M. Franchak, Adam C. Harmer, Imani K. Johnson, Claudia Holguin Mendoza, Victoria D. Reyes, and Annika C. Speer. Faculty members Robert Clark, Ozkan Eren, Weihsin Gui, Agnieszka M. Jaworska, Jodi S. Kim, Emily S. Rapp-Black, Jacqueline Shea Murphy, and Wei Zhao were promoted to full professors. Laila Lalami, Lisa Raphals, Michele R. Salzman, and Janice E. Stets were promoted to distinguished professors. Patricia Cardoso, Jennifer Doyle, and Katharine M. Sweeny were recognized for reaching another plateau of achievements.

College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences

Faculty members promoted to tenure were Gregor Blaha, Matthew D. Casselman, Po-Ning Chen, Matthew P. Conley, Maryjo Nicole Covellone Brounce, Yanou Cui, Yongtao Cui, Stephanie Dingwall, Esra Kurum, Sara W. Lapan, Ying-Hsuan Lin, Chun Hung Lui, Patricia Mercedes Manosalva, Kerry E. Mauck, Michael Mulligan, Peter Samuelson, Philip Alfred Tanedo, Peng Wei, Sarah Hollis Woodard, Min Xue, and Haofei Zhang. Nathaniel M. Gabor, Quinn McFrederick, Naveen A. Reddy, Vijayalakshmi Santhakumar, and Shan-Wen Tsai were promoted to full professors. Michael E. Adams, Exequiel Ezcurra, Pingyun Feng, Jiri Simunek and Shizhong Xu were promoted to distinguished professors. Isgouhi Kaloshian, Richard Redak, Andrew Ridgwell, Christiane Weirauch, and Feng Xu were recognized for reaching another plateau of achievements.

School of Business

Faculty members Ye Li and Marlo Raveendran were promoted to tenure, and Elodie Goodman was promoted to full professor.
